앎을 회복하는 일에 또 하루를 바치면서, 오늘 어떤 가정도 하지 말라. 당신 배움의 진척에 대해 가정하지 말라. 세상에 대해 가정하지 말라. 오늘 하루 모든 상황을 있는 그대로 보는 열린 마음, 배우고자 하는 열린 마음을 갖도록 연습하라. 가정하지 않을 때 오는 자유를 만끽하라. 왜냐하면 당신이 신비를 받아들이는 법을 배울 때, 신비는 두려움과 불안의 원천이 아니라 은총의 원천이 될 것이기 때문이다.

당신은 오늘, 이 가르침의 가치와 힘을 시간연습에서도 체험할 수 있고, 고요와 받아들임을 연습하는 두 차례 긴 명상에서도 체험할 수 있다. 오늘 하루 어떤 가정도 하지 말라. 하루 내내 오늘의 주제를 상기하라. 왜냐하면 가정하는 것은 단순히 습관일 뿐이며, 그 습관에서 벗어났을 때 마음은 과거 속박에서 벗어나 자연스럽게 제 기능을 수행할 수 있기 때문이다.
