마음이 고요하면, 큰 마음이 나타나 그 지혜를 드러낼 수 있다. 앎을 염원하는 소망으로 고요를 연마하는 사람들은 큰 계시와 참된 통찰이 드러나도록 준비할 것이다. 그 통찰은 연습 중에 드러날 수도 있고, 일상 활동 중에 드러날 수도 있다. 여기서 중요한 점은 준비되어 있다는 것이다.

오늘 두 번, 어제처럼 고요를 연습하되, 어떤 결과도 기대하지 말고 하라. 이 연습을 어떤 형태로든 묻는 일에 쓰지 말라. 왜냐하면 이것은 고요를 연습하는 것이며, 고요 안에서는 모든 추측·질문·탐구가 멈추기 때문이다. 오늘 15분간씩 두 번, 다시 고요를 연습하라.
