당신에게 베푼 이들을 존중할 때 감사하는 마음이 생길 것이고, 이때 참사랑이 시작되고 그들에 대한 올바른 이해가 시작된다. 오늘 두 차례 깊은 연습 시간에 당신에게 베푼 이들을 생각하라. 연습 시간 동안 그들 말고는 다른 것을 생각하지 말라. 그들이 당신에게 무엇을 했는지 매우 깊이 살펴보라. 생각하면 화가 나고 짜증나는 이들을 떠올리며, 그들마저도 당신이 앎을 회복하는 데 어떤 도움을 주었는지 보려고 노력하라. 당신 안에 있는 감정을 없는 것처럼 꾸미지 말라. 하지만 당신이 그들에게 악감정을 품고 있다 하더라도, 이때도 그들이 당신에게 봉사한 것을 알아보려고 노력하라. 왜냐하면 당신이 자신을 도운 사람이라는 것을 알고 있어도 실제로 그 사람 때문에 화나고 짜증날 수 있으며, 이런 경우가 흔하기 때문이다. 오직 당신을 돕기만 바라는 이 교육과정에조차 당신은 어쩌면 화낼지도 모른다. 당신이 이 교육과정에 왜 화내겠는가? 왜냐하면 앎은 가는 길에 방해되는 것을 모두 쓸어내기 때문이다. 그래서 때때로 당신은 화가 나면서도 왜 화나는지조차 모른다.

두 차례 연습 시간에 깊이 집중하라. 마음의 힘을 이용하라. 당신을 도운 사람들을 생각하라. 당신을 도왔다고 여겨지지 않은 사람들이 마음속에 떠오르면, 그들 역시 당신을 어떻게 도왔는지 생각해보라. 오늘 하루가 제대로 인지하는 날이 되게 하고, 원래대로 회복하는 날이 되게 하라.
