당신의 가장 깊은 성향들은 신뢰할 수 있으니 그 성향들을 신뢰하라. 하지만 당신은 그 성향들을 당신이 느끼거나 당신에게 영향을 주는 다른 많은 욕망·충동·소망들과 분별하고 구별하는 법을 배워야 한다. 당신은 오직 체험을 통해서만 이것을 배울 수 있다. 당신은 이것을 배울 수 있다. 왜냐하면 당신의 가장 깊은 성향들은 당신을 항상 의미 있는 관계로 이끌고, 고립된 상태나 불화를 일으키는 관계에서 멀어지게 하기 때문이다. 이것을 배우려면 연습해야 하며, 여기에는 시간이 걸린다. 하지만 이 방향으로 한 계단씩 밟아 갈 때마다, 당신 삶 속에 있는 사랑의 원천에 더 가까워질 것이고, 당신과 함께 있는 큰 힘이 당신에게 드러내 보여줄 것이다. 당신은 그 큰 힘을 섬겨야 하고, 또 그 힘을 받아들이는 법을 배워야 한다.

오늘 침묵과 고요 속에서 하는 두 차례 연습 시간에, 이 큰 힘을 받아들이라. 그리고 이때 당신의 가장 깊은 성향들을 신뢰하라. 다른 것은 모두 나중에 생각해볼 수 있도록 한쪽으로 제쳐놓고, 이 시간에는 연습에만 온 주의를 기울이라. 당신이 신뢰하는 법을 배워야 하는 자신의 가장 깊은 성향들을 당신 자신이 알아보는 것을 허용하라.
