당신의 뜻은 신을 아는 것이다. 이것이 당신의 참뜻이다. 다른 모든 소망이나 동기는 당신의 참뜻을 피하는 것이다. 바로 이 참뜻이 당신에게 두려운 일이 되어 버렸다. 당신은 자신이 알고 있는 것, 가장 깊이 느끼는 것을 두려워한다. 그럼으로써 당신은 자신을 나타내지 않는 다른 것들에서 피난처를 찾게 된다. 여기서 당신은 정체성을 잃고, 도망가려고 찾았던 것들과 관련된 정체성을 정립하려고 시도한다. 고립 상태에서는 당신이 비참하지만, 관계 안에서는 행복을 되찾는다.

당신의 뜻은 신을 아는 것이다. 당신의 뜻을 두려워하지 말라. 당신은 신이 창조하였다. 신의 뜻은 당신을 아는 것이고, 당신의 뜻은 신을 아는 것이다. 그 밖에는 다른 뜻이 없다. 이 뜻 아닌 다른 동기는 모두 그저 혼란과 두려움에서 나온 것이다. 신을 아는 것은 신에게도 힘을 주고, 당신에게도 힘을 준다.

오늘 두 차례 연습은 침묵 명상으로써, 당신 자신의 뜻에서 나오는 힘을 느껴보라. 두려움이나 의심이 당신 마음을 흐리게 하지 못하게 하라. 당신은 신의 뜻을 느끼려고 애쓰지 않아도 된다. 신의 뜻은 그냥 존재한다. 당신이 알아차리기 위해서는 주의를 기울이기만 하면 된다. 그러므로 이 체험에 단순히 현존하는 것으로 깊이 연습하라.
