당신 삶은 신비이다. 당신의 기원, 이곳에 온 목적, 이곳을 떠나면 가는 곳, 이 모두가 매우 신비롭다. 이것들을 이해하려면 오직 체험하는 수밖에 없다. 당신이 지금 당장 삶의 신비를 어떻게 이해할 수 있겠는가? 지금까지 일어난 일을 이해하려면 당신은 삶의 끝에 있어야 하는데, 당신은 세상 삶의 끝에 와있지 않다. 세상의 진정한 의미를 이해하려면, 당신은 고향에서 세상을 보아야 할 것이다. 그러나 당신은 지금 세상에 있으니, 세상에 현존해야 한다. 하지만 이 신비는 여전히 체험될 수 있으며 또한 체험되어야 한다. 당신은 이 신비를 지금 이해할 수는 없지만, 이 순간 온전히 체험할 수는 있다. 이 체험에서 신비는 당신이 필수 단계를 지금 밟아야 할 것들을 모두 당신에게 내놓을 것이다. 당신이 밟도록 그 필수 단계가 지금 기다리고 있다.

그러니 신비를 이해해야 한다는 생각으로 마음에 부담을 주지 말라. 왜냐하면 당신은 불가능한 것을 구함으로써, 혼란에 빠질 뿐이고, 생각해야 하는 부담만 더 커질 것이기 때문이다. 그러니 차라리 자신을 내맡겨 세상과 삶에 대한 감탄과 경이로 삶의 신비를 체험하라. 세상은 당신이 감각기관을 통해 지금껏 안 것보다 훨씬 더 크며, 삶은 당신이 판단한 것보다 훨씬 더 위대하다.

정각마다, 오늘의 말을 반복하라. 오늘 두 차례 온 정성을 다해 진심으로 ‘란’ 명상을 연습하라. 오늘 연습이 당신이 앎에 헌신하는 것을 다시 확인해주는 것이 되게 하라. 왜냐하면 당신은 여기에서 알려준 대로 이 계단을 따르기만 하면 되기 때문이다.
