"오늘 나는 실제로 아는 것과 단지 믿거나 바랄 뿐인 것을 알아차리면서, 지극히 정직할 것이다. 나는 알지 못한 것을 아는척하지 않을 것이다. 나는 실제보다 더 부자인척하거나 가난한척하지 않을 것이다. 나는 현재 있는 그대로 있고자 노력할 것이다."

현재 있는 그대로 있고자 노력하라. 단순하라. 편히 있으라. 주위 세상을 살펴보라. 세상에서 해야 할 일들을 하라. 자신을 높이지도 말고, 비하하지도 말라. 자신을 통제하려 하거나 조종하려 하지 말고, 오늘 하루 모든 것이 실제 돌아가는 대로 돌아가게 놓아두라. 다만 여기에서 유일한 예외는 당신이 오늘 연습을 실행할 수 있도록 자기단련을 활용하는 것뿐이다.

두 차례 긴 연습 시간에, 오늘의 확언을 반복하고 나서, 고요 속으로 들어가라. 이때 당신은 마음의 힘을 써야 한다. 이때 당신은 자신을 속이는 어떤 일이나 비현실적인 어떤 일을 하려는 것이 아니다. 단지 마음이 평화로운 상태, 즉 자연스러운 상태로 들어가게 하는 것이다.
