여기서 말하는 앎은 보통 안다고 할 때 연상되는 것들과는 다르다. 앎은 관념이나 정보체가 아니다. 앎은 믿음 체계도 아니며, 자기평가 과정도 아니다. 앎은 당신 삶의 큰 신비이다. 앎이 발현될 때, 심오한 직관과 위대한 통찰이 일어나고, 불가사의하게 무언가를 알게 되며, 현재와 미래를 슬기롭게 인식하고, 과거를 슬기롭게 이해한다. 그러나 이처럼 마음의 큰 성취에도 불구하고, 앎은 이러한 것들보다 더 크다. 앎은 당신의 참자아이며, 이 참자아는 삶과 떨어져 있지 않다.
